I got a job! It’s not actually that new, really. I’ve been working there since the beginning of December, hence the lack of consistency here. Right now I’m working in retail. Bridal retail to be exact. It’s actually a lot of fun. There are parts of it that I find boring, but hey, that’s any job, and at my job I get to sell pretty dresses to mostly happy people. Sure, there’s a bad egg now and again, but for the most part everyone is nice and just generally excited. It’s a wedding! What could bad about that?
How did I end up in a bridal shop, you ask? I blame Big Red. She told me to apply for the position when we were there trying on my bridesmaid gown for her wedding and I interviewed 4 days later and got the call the next week that I got the job! All of the ladies I work with are incredibly talented and considerate of every customer’s needs and feelings. It’s sometimes so crowded in there that we don’t have dressing rooms available, and these stylists just work with what they have, sizing people left and right, suggesting a specific color to go with a complexion, recommending a certain cut of dress to complement the bride’s wedding gown. I don’t know how they do it. I just work the front desk and the cash registers, answering questions over the phone and creating appointments for people.
As far as wellness goes, I’m doing alright. I haven’t been sick since just after Christmas, which is pretty great. My acne is still there, but it has significantly lessened, and I think there may be a light at the end of the tunnel!
I haven’t run since October. I’m a terrible hermit when it comes to winter. As soon as it gets freezing outside and snowy, I go into hibernation mode. I eat a lot, sleep a lot, and read and watch television. My mom and I are just finishing up the 3rd of our 5 spring TV shows that we watch. We DVR everything and then watch it when I am home, because about 70% of the time I’m living at Big Red’s and working. Now that summer has arrived, I hope to get back out on the trails and in the pool soon, probably in another 2 weeks. “Why not now?” you ask. Well, My ankle keeps swelling up, and I’m not supposed to work out for another week or so/ until the swelling goes away, because I got my first tattoo! I’ll tell you the whole story of my escapades later this week. May has been an exciting month!
Now that we’re hitting summer, I’m going to have a ton of bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and weddings to prep for. Not only is Big Red getting hitched Labor Day weekend, but I found out a couple months ago that my old college roommate, we’ll call her The Nurse (because she is one), is getting married the weekend before her, and I will also be a bridesmaid in HER wedding! It’s going to be a very wedding-filled summer.
For now, rest assured that I am doing well, and that I am planning BIG THINGS. It’s almost that time of year again when I outline my Theme of the Year for you all and set up my plan for the year ahead. Wish me luck!
Until next time,
Amanda
